How to resolve the battery heating issue in MI , Redmi and Poco Phone?

Learn how to resolve the battery heating issue

It is normal for a device to heat up after prolonged usage (30min+) mainly if used for gaming, video streaming, data streaming, GPS/maps etc and while charging due to voltage intake.

Battery/device temperature can also fluctuate if the ambient temperature is high. Check with customer for ambient temperature & if the device is being operated in a hot enviroment, it is perfectly normal for a device to heat.

If the device is overheating while using any Benchmarking app, inform customer that it is normal for a device to heat under such circumstances.

Device can also heat up in case the cellular network in a particular area is weak / very frequently shifting the bands - 2G->3G->4G or vice versa and while on long calls. If this is the case, ask customer to check for the same issue in a network-enriched area.

However, if the device is being used in a temperature-controlled environment & everything seems to be fine, proceed with the troubleshooting.

Ask the customer to check battery temperature by following the below:

Settings > Battery & Performance > Battery Optimization >Add _ Mins (if reflecting)->It will reflect temperature.

Security App->Battery-> Battery Optimization > Add _ Mins (if reflecting)->It will reflect temperature.

Dial *#*#6484#*#* > Tap on Battery Capacity > Check the battery temperature.

If the battery temperature is below 47 degrees, inform the customer that up to 47 degree celsius is considered to be normal operating temperature for smart phones. If it is above 47 degrees & device is being used in a hot environment, ask customer to let the device cool by itself & operate it where the temperature is normal.

In order to keep the battery temperature under control, please ask the customer to follow the below steps:

1.      Update your device to the latest version of MIUI:

Settings > About phone > System Updates

2.      Turn On Battery Saver Mode:

Swipe down the notification bar > Tap on Edit > Battery Saver

3.     Perform Battery Optimization:

Settings > Battery & Performance > Battery Optimization >Ensure the check boxes are selected (This will close all apps consuming excessive power) > Tap on the button > Add _ Mins (For eg. Add 5 Mins)

4.      Turn off Autostart for applications which are not used frequently:

Settings > Permissions > Autostart > Turn "Off" Autostart

5.      Stop unwanted background applications which consume battery and increase device temperature:

Settings > Installed apps > Select any app that is Running > Tap on Force Stop

6.      Turn Off Wi-Fi, Mobile data and GPS when not in use.

If the battery temperature is above 47 degrees, please ask the customer to follow the below steps:

1.      Update your device to the latest version of MIUI:

Settings > About phone > System Updates

2.      Turn On Battery Saver Mode:

        Settings > Battery > Power> Battery Saver - ON

Security > Battery Usage> Battery Saver - ON

If the above steps don't work, perform a factory reset after taking backup.

If the device continues to heats up above 47 degrees, ask them to visit a service center nearby.

Note:Inform customer to take a backup before visiting the Service center

You need to book appoinment before going to service center for more detail click here
